15th 24-Hour Puzzle Championship, Budapest, 17-19 April 2015

Postby Gyorgy ISTVAN » Wed Jan 07, 2015 11:56 am

Dear puzzle-friends,

it's our pleasure to invite all of you to Budapest, for the uniqe, 24-Hour Puzzle Championship to be held on 17-19 April, 2015.

Some basic information about the event: the schedule of the weekend will be the same as it's usual (see below), there will be 13 times 100 minutes puzzle sets, which is much more than you can solve during any WPC-style event. In this year Pál Madarassy (former WPC individual champion) is in charge of selecting and checking the puzzle-sets from all over the world.

There's a welcome dinner on Friday evening at approximately 7 pm (to be finalised later, when we have more details about the participant's flights), and later we have a Q&A session, if you have unanswered questions (the IB is published a week prior, and we're replying for your question on the WPF-forum, so normally this Q&A lasts only 30 minutes). On Saturrday the championship starts at 10 AM. On Sunday the solving time ends at 10 AM, and there's an award ceremony at 11:30 AM, which is followed with the farewell lunch.

The fees are: 180 Euros in double room and 240 Euros in single room. 40 Euros discount goes to the puzzle authors (if two person compile one set, it's only 20-20/person).
The fee covers the transfers from/to the airport, T-shirt, meals, soft drinks, coffee, tea during the 24 hours and ... the puzzles of course ;)
You can pay in cash during the championship.

If you want to participate, send your registration to istvan.gyorgy@gmail.com.
Please let us known your travelling info in order to organise your transfer from/to the airport.
Please calculate 1,5 hours for your transit between the hotel and the airport, and give also an hour for the security and passport control at the airport (if you have not just a hand luggage, another 30 minutes for check-in your baggage), so the earliest departure should not be earlier than 3 PM (Budapest local time).

Please also write your T-shirt size, and if you have any meal preferences (like vegetarian) or any other special request.

We're also please to organise your extended stay in Budapest (e.g. if you want to visit some logical live-action games, see more at: http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2014/ ... e-budapest)

So, if you want to do some extra mental games, we're more than happy to reserve a place in one of the dozen great places - and we can also delegate some Hungarian puzzlers if you don't have enough friends to form a team for these games. Of course we're offer to play this game on Friday afternoon (and you should arrive a bit earlier to Budapest - and you should make your decision early in order to have free place in one of this games...), or staying one night longer in Budapest.

If you have any further question, feel free to ask us.

Any news about when the final set will be published? Also, can you let us know which round number it is that is missing at the moment. I can see that the final two sets at the moment are actually rounds 13 and 14 (not 12 & 13).
Thank you.
