One way to ring the changes with Sudoku is to create ever more complex grid concepts.

I have taken another approach, by creating a board game, not a puzzle, based on the original grid. It's a new two-player game of strategy like Chess, Go or Reversi. It's not a race to complete a puzzle, in fact you start with an empty board. It's for iPhones and iPads. Check out the free version, Sudoku Dan Lite, with full rules and an easy computer opponent at Of course, the full app at a modest price has far more to offer. There are screen shots and videos on and at

Do tell me what you think, or if there are any other games out there like this.
