Endurance at WSC

Before WSC 2014, Tom opened some discussions on his blog. One of them was endurance at WSC: https://tcollyer.blogspot.com/2013/11/e ... t-wsc.html

My question concern GP finals. One of the goal of the old format of competition was to ensure that the competition lasts no longer than one hour. With the new format used in 2019, finalists had to stay in the competition hall during 3 hours. Even if most of the time was about waiting and not about solving, don't you think it can be a disadvantage for these players to have to stay concentrated during 3 hours at the end of the 1rst day of competition vs a player who can rest during the first evening of competition and stay fresh for the 2nd day?

Hi Fred,

This is definitely a valid concern. However, the Sudoku GP was the first time we tried that format, and we made the process more efficient for the Puzzle GP finals. It definitely did not take 3 hours there. We will try to achieve that efficiency henceforth in both GP finals if this format is used again.
