No :) Drawing the loop is obligatory. It is stated in the instructions.

I think there is a typo in the following rule;
All shaded cells must be connected to the edge of the grid through other orthogonally adjacent unshaded cells.
should be
All shaded cells must be connected to the edge of the grid through other orthogonally adjacent shaded cells.

In order to get the points we have only to shade the cells or we have to draw the loop?
Or both?

Loop is obligatory for sure and we will discuss about shading the cells tomorrow. We will let you know.
